Boost for Oldbury town church

The New Testament Church of God in Church Street has been awarded £3,878 from the Local Area Budget to run their own Seniors Day Centre.

Councillor Sharon Davies, town chair for Oldbury said: “The sessions give members the chance to form friendships and participate in activities that contribute to their physical and mental wellbeing.

The project includes a very wide variety of activities to provide a lot of help and assistance.”

They include healthy eating and meal preparation sessions to encourage people to bake and share recipes, as well as arts and crafts, sewing, knitting and board games.

The group is planning to run ICT classes with younger church members.

The funding has also helped contribute towards the cost of a fridge freezer, kitchen trolley, various board games and laptops.
