The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Mohammed Azim, thanks communities and key workers across the city for playing their part in the fight against coronavirus

In these unprecedented and unsettling times, I – like I’m sure we all are – am taking great comfort in seeing how communities across the city are helping and supporting each other.

The way in which the people of Birmingham and agencies across the city have responded to this coronavirus pandemic – and the impact it is having on all of our lives – is amazing. There is much love in this city, which is great to see in such challenging times.

Like 1.5m people across the country I am currently shielding – which means I must stay at home – so I’m unable to personally thank those who are supporting their neighbours and communities for all their efforts.
